Named for the hunter. Built to deliver. Hombakadzi is a young Harare group led by Julia Madzudzo, Founder and Managing Director. Its construction arm builds residential homes in Harare, documented one dated site photograph at a time. Hombakadzi is Shona for a female hunter.
Hombakadzi has four arms under one registration, currently in progress with CIPZ. Construction is active and on site today. Consultancy, food, and education are forming alongside it.
Every photograph on this site is our own work, on our own sites, photographed as it happened. One current Harare home moved from a surface bed cast on a damp-proof membrane on 15 July 2026, to burnt-brick room layout on 30 July 2026, to walls near the wall-plate on 5 August 2026, to full-height walls and standing verandah columns on 8 August 2026, all in under a month.
Three sites: a live new build in Harare; a renovation and extension at an established Avondale property, taken through strip-out, new extension footings and rooftop solar; and a third Harare site with materials already mobilised.
Families building their first home on their own stand, owners finishing or extending what they have, and Zimbabweans in the diaspora who need a builder they can hold to account from another time zone. Dated photo updates from site are part of the service.
Julia Madzudzo leads Hombakadzi. She is Head of Hippo Valley Estates Primary School in Chiredzi, where the school recorded a 100 percent Grade 7 pass rate in 2023 and first position in Chiredzi district, took first place in the National Spelling Bee with three pupils in the national top ten, and moved to online applications and digital fee payments in 2025.
Design and build (indicative 6 to 12 months for a family home), build to plan (indicative 4 to 9 months), renovation and extension (indicative 3 to 10 weeks), and managed works (runs to the agreed programme). Every project gets a written programme after a site visit and a bill of quantities.
